Production Artist.
BAKER, a leading branding agency, is seeking a Production Artist to create production-ready digital artwork for packaging, marketing collateral, ads, signage, displays and environments.
As the final checkpoint in a creative design process, this role works closely and collaboratively with creative directors, designers, account team members, clients and their print suppliers to insure design intent and deadlines are met.
What you will do:
-Build and extend design files and review final copy, layouts and content in print or digital form.
-Ensure all brand, client, regulatory, digital and print standards across color, font, production quality, regulatory compliance and more.
-Check for all critical details and style as you scale, crop, kern, retouch, change and enhance layouts, place and check die lines, eliminate redundancy in copy, check/proof copy, create file print layers, and set and format all regulated copy including nutrition facts, ingredient listings, corporate addresses, sell copy, UPCs, date code areas, and QR codes, checking for regulatory requirements, guidelines and die line and print tolerances.
-Knowledge and proficiency in file construction is a critical part of the job (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). Setting up files for the various print specifications and tolerances is key. Candidate must be familiar with all/most print methods including offset, digital, rotogravure, flexographic, and direct print on packaging substrates (aluminum) including screen printing and dry offset printing.
Skills and Talent:
The ideal candidate has a keen creative eye, can recognize problems and propose improvements or solution to the team, can extend designs into variants if needed, is computer savvy, and a graphics expert with an eye for detail, including a good “color eye”. The goal is to deliver impeccably constructed files to our clients and their printers to insure design intent, regulatory compliance and content accuracy.
As a meticulous person that is goal-oriented, your eye is focused on the big picture as well as the smallest details. We are seeking a person who is assertive and collaborative, and can help move a concept from sketch to a finished graphic design, package, web content, print ad or video. As an excellent communicator and collaborator, you work hand in hand with the creative and account team to meet client demands and deadlines. You work within client print specs and parameters and represent the agency in meetings with clients and printers on production-related topics including workflow streams, client systems, vendor specifications and requirements, press checks, substrate and color spec recommendations.
This role is under constant deadlines and must have the ability to manage tasks under pressure and stress, often times with ambiguity, changing priorities and repeated rounds of changes.
Ideal candidate will have a great work ethic, be highly flexible within a fast-paced environment, goal-oriented, and will catch typos and matters that everyone else misses. They are concerned with resolution, color, size accuracy, production values and CMYK, RGB, spot versus process color, vector versus raster and much more.
Requirements:
-Experience as a production artist
-Strong working knowledge of design software: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat and PDF manipulation.
-Masterful production skills and use of design tools
-Strong problem solving and communication skills and a high EQ
-Organized and exceptionally detail oriented
-Great color eye and eye for detail
-Portfolio of completed graphics and designs
Knowledge of these platforms is a plus:
- Knowledge of 3D software, web design, animation or video production considered a plus.
